Wesley does Christmas Eve Hawaiian-themed

At Wesley, the new tradition is to celebrate Christmas Eve with a Hawaiian-themed service. The sanctuary was full at 4:00 pm as the Wesley Choir and Ukulele Band led us in the traditional Christmas carols. There were a few Hawaiian favorites too like "Mele Kalikimaka" and "Nu 'Oli (Glad Tidings)". Jake Shimada played some lead parts while Tina Urata and Cheryl Koshiro danced some lovely hulas. Shane Cantanho supported the music on piano. A special thank you to the readers who shared the Luke 2 Christmas story with us. Rev. John Oda talked about Jesus coming to people on the margins like the shepherds that night. We ended with "Silent Night" by candle light. We sang this classic song in English, Japanese, and Hawaiian.
