Umbrella Ministry: Tai Chi Class
On Saturday morning, May 10, nine participants were introduced to Tai Chi led by Dr. Chen, a Tai Chi and Yoga trainer, whose mission is to empower her client’s well-being. Dr. Chen has 40 years of experience as a holistic acupuncturist and is an MD neurologist from China.
We started with an evaluation of our stance and walking form and continued with warm-ups which included movements such as shoulder circles, turning the head from side to side, and rocking back and forth to help loosen our muscles and joints, while also focusing on our breaths. Dr. Chen proceeded to teach us some beginner tai chi forms or movements. We learned that although tai chi is slow and gentle, it addresses the key components of fitness — muscle strength, flexibility, and balance. We are so grateful to Dr. Chen for sharing her expertise with us!
