It has been 74 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki were obliterated by atomic bombs, and 50 years since the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) was established. However, the possibility of another nuclear casualty is nothing but intensifying in the current world political scene.
With this situation in mind, Nichigo hosted a “Peace Forum” on June 15, where Rev Nobu Hanaoka and Mrs. Masako Wada shared their experience as Hibakusha (Survivors of 1945 A-bomb) and discussed what we can do to achieve “a world without nuclear weapons.”
The Nihon Hidankyo, an anti-nuclear-weapon organization, of which Mrs. Wada is the Assistant Secretary General, is collecting signatures for the “International Signature Campaign in Support of the Appeal of the Hibakusha for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons” which will be presented to the United Nations General Assembly.
To date, Nihon Hidankyo has collected 9.4 million signatures. Please add your signature in support of a world without nuclear weapons. Forms are available in the Fellowship Hall on Sundays after worship services. Your support is greatly appreciated.
