Everyday in developing countries, thousands walk miles for water, food, and wood for cooking. In San Jose hundreds of our neighbors walk to soup kitchens, parks, and shelters for perhaps their only meal for the day.
After 45 years of walking in solidarity around the Rose Garden, the Bay Area CROP Walk was cancelled for this year. Many churches and groups were saddened but still committed to end hunger “one step at a time”.
Wesley has been invited by Almaden Hills UMC (Rev. Mariellen Sawada’s church) to join them on Sunday, April 28 at 1:00. to enjoy the sights and sounds near Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill Road. Walkers will be treated to root beer floats after their walk.
Yes, the Walk will be different. but we remember it is the SAME spirit and commandments of Jesus to care for the needy, feed the poor, and to walk humbly with God.
Please visit the Missions Committee sign-up table on April 14 and 28 if you would like to walk or be a sponsor (any amount). Proceeds will sent to Church World Service (CWS), Sacred Heart Community Service, or Second Harvest Food Bank. CWS sends tons of food, medical supplies, and educators to countries devastated by disease, famine, or war.
This is a great group or family event. You’ll feel great knowing you cared and saved a life.
