Ozoni is special New Year's soup
Ingredients in ozoni vary by region in Japan; there may be shiitake mushroom, chicken, carrot, kamaboko fishcake, daikon radish, all cooked in dashi fish broth. Mochi, which symbolizes strength, good health, and wealth, is almost always included.
After worship service, on Sunday, January 6, the congregation is invited to observe the New Year with a small bowl of ozoni, prepared by our Nichigo congregation. Come enjoy ozoni.
