It has become an annual tradition at Wesley UMC to hold a special worship service before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to remember loved ones as we head into these seasons. We realize that for many people, the loss of loved ones (whether most recent or years ago) so often colors these seasons with a touch of deep longing and sadness. This service is held and planned and supported by our pastoral staff and our Stephen Ministry at Wesley UMC to provide opportunity to recognize those whose lives and love continue to leave a lasting imprint on our lives, to offer comfort and hope amidst sadness during these seasons, and provide time to celebrate and give thanks to God for these persons whose love has so wonderfully blessed our lives.
In preparation for this service we invite you to bring photos of your loved ones in photo frames of 8”x10” or smaller to display near the altar area. We will light a candle for each loved one we wish to remember. We will also enable folks to write down burdens they face and place them on the altar as we bring our brokeness to God. The liturgy, message, music and singing we hope will bring you a sense of God’s presence and peace that will sustain you through the holidays. Please come and please invite others to join us who may especially be needful of the healing and grace this service might provide for them. Contact Rev. David Ko if you have any questions about the service.
