Winter Faith Collaborative (WFC)
Very quietly on October 4 Wesley began our third year participating in the non-
denominational Winter Faith Collaborative (WFC) whose sole purpose is to alleviate homelessness. For the month of October, cooking and serving teams of 5-6 will share a delicious homemade meal for fifteen women at the Village House at St. Paul’s UMC near San Jose State University. Here homeless women have a safe, secure, and friendly place to eat, shower, and sleep.
Mary Leano and Roy Takeuchi are our Com(e)-Passion Ministry meal coordinators. We cook meals in our church kitchen, then transport and serve at WFC centers. All expenses are reimbursed through Wesley Church's Share Our Substance (SOS) fund, and we welcome your gifts to the SOS fund. We are looking for two more volunteer cooks to join Dale and Mary Sasaki on Wednesday Oct 18.
Combine a favorite dish with fellowship and you get good feelings. Guaranteed! Please consider volunteering. Winter schedule dates will be available when overnight shelters and daytime lunch drop-in centers open for the winter. Giving yourself to help others enjoy hope, joy, and peace makes a wonderful holiday gift. Thank you.
Do you have unneeded sleeping bags, blankets?
The Com(e)Passion Ministry Team will glad accept any donations of new or gently used clothing. Winter is almost here, and our greatest needs are blankets, sleeping bags, socks, shoes, women's clothes, and diapers. If you can donate any of these items, please bring to Rev. Hajime's office. Thank you!
