The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday and ends with Holy Week: a remembrance of Jesus' final and most difficult days of His ministry as He moves toward His sacrifice upon the cross. Remembering these final days of Jesus' life helps us to more deeply feel and appreciate the joy and hope of the resurrection of Christ which is celebrated on Easter! Please join us for these meaningful worship services and activities.
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lenten season and we invite you to join us for a special Ash Wednesday Service and begin the journey!
The season of Lent is the 40 day period (excluding Sundays) before the joy of Easter. Traditionally the season of Lent was approached as a time of fasting and penitence. This 40 day period of Lent is reminiscent of the 40 days that Noah and his family along with the animals endured the rains and flooding, the number of years the Hebrews wandered in the desert before entering the Promised Land, and the number of days that Jesus was tested in the wilderness before he began his ministry. It speaks to us of a time period that offers an opportunity for the deepening of one's faith, testing and great revelations!
