2009 Young Adult Mission Trip to Pharr, Texas

"I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

6th Day - July 16
3rd Work Day

Almost done! Early this morning we arrived at our worksite to finish off the roof. However, our tools were all missing!! We searched and searched and still couldn't find them. We knocked on the door but no one answered and had to go next door to the relatives to find out where they had moved our tools. Luckily they knew and told us they were in the trunk of one of the cars.  Whew!

We started work about an hour later than we had planned but it was okay. Everyone worked together and quickly and we finished the roof by noon.  The family we were working for had again prepared a fajita lunch for us, and Armando brought us watermelons again.  We enjoyed that before heading back for showers and rest.  A couple of trips to Walmart and Lowe's to pick up a few more supplies, and then it was supper time.  Donna Clark joined us for dinner at La Mexicana Restaurant.

Tomorrow we have plans to go back to the house, seal the roof, clean up the mess and build front porch steps.  This was not part of the original plan but because the steps were so broken and dangerous, we wanted to do this for the family.  It won't take much time or work at all. After that, we will go  back to San Juan UMC where we are staying and clean up and do a few repairs around here.  And then on Saturday we will return to San Jose!
