Spiritual growth is the goal in our Sunday class time, where Junior and Senior High school students are able to maintain an environment of respect and acceptance as they are also encouraged to talk openly and honestly about their feelings, their beliefs and questions about their faith.  Applying Bible lessons to the life of today’s youth and other relevant contemporary issues provides an arena for interesting discussions, from which spritual growth can be achieved together.

At Wesley UMC, the youth leaders are all strong individually, but also come together as a solid team.  With this strength, we aim at continuing to provide a stable environment and a dependable program for our youth.  Fundraising, church-wide events, as well as support to the neighboring community are included in the program.
A solid youth group is formed by friendly relationships with peers, and at Wesley UMC we strive to provide activities and events where those friendships are nurtured and developed.  The youth often plan and organize social events themselves, developing leadership skills as well as creating and maintaining meaningful Christian friendships.

All Junior and Senior High youth are invited to join us for weekly Sunday meetings.  We attend the beginning part of 10:00 a.m. worship service and adjourn to our classroom until 11:30 a.m.  Please also join us for the 11:30 a.m. Contemporary Worship Service where many of our students participate in the fun and uplifting praise music.

Girl Scout Troop 1150

Wesley United Methodist Church supports a unique and lively Girl Scout Troop 1150.  We are a multi-level troop which supports girls from ages 5 to 17 - Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Senior Girl Scouts.

The troop is open to all girls. Some of the goals they work on are both personal and far-reaching. This is achieved by exposing the girls to many learning experiences, leadership opportunities and team-working skills. They become better citizens and scouting gives the girls the experience of improving the quality of life for others without regard for personal reward. Girls develop a commitment to community service that lasts a lifetime.

The girls participate in a program that includes activities in science, math, technology, the out-of-doors, arts and well-being.

Daisy - Kindergarten
Brownie - Grades 1st through 3rd
Junior - Grades 4th through 6th
Cadette - Grades 7th through 9th
Senior - 10th through 12th

We'd love to have you join us! Please contact us through the Church Office at (408) 295-0367

Adult Bible Studies

  • Adult Bible Study Saturday mornings from 7:30-8:45AM
  • Facilitators:  Kats Hikido, Leighton Horio, Tak Okabe and Roy Takeuchi
This Bible Study meets each Saturday and welcomes adults of all ages. Each quarter a unit of study is completed and a new one begins; one can join in at anytime during the year. Four to five Bible study leaders rotate leading the lessons. Each lesson is focused on the Bible, and is usually related to our daily lives and how we may become closer to God. Very lively discussions are held in both large and small groups. Participation in this Bible Study enables one to gain a better relationship and understanding of one's relationship with God as well as other members in the group.

Coffee is served; the Bible Study concludes about 8:45 AM. If you are a "morning person" who enjoys an informal early morning fellowship, you will enjoy this very warm and friendly group. It will be worth your time to get up and meet with this group.

  • Adult Bible Study Sunday mornings from 11:30AM-12:30PM
  • Facilitator: Jim Tengan

Jim Tengan leads the adult Bible study held on Sundays at 11:30 AM (after worship service). Jim began this Bible study in the early 1980's and he continues to lead the class diligently every week (except when there is a conflict with a greater church wide program).

It is an informal Bible study open to anybody who is interested in learning about Jesus and incorporating His teachings into his/her daily life. The class chooses (by democratic voting) books or Bible study materials that are interesting to the class. Therefore, the study materials chosen by the class vary offering a wide variety of styles, approaches and topics relating to the Bible and the life in the Jesus' Church.

Later in March they will begin study of Faith Is the Answer, But What Are the Questions?

In his latest book, James W. Moore says there are a number of tough questions we grapple with daily in our challenging times.  How does faith help us when problems arise?  How does the Christian faith strengthen us when suffering or tragedy or heartache explodes into our lives?  How does the Holy Spirit help us?  Did Jesus really mean for us to love everybody?  In this hectic world, with so many things crying out for our allegiance and support, whom can we trust?

Faith is the answer, of course, but still…what are the questions?  And how do we respond to them honestly, creatively, and redemptively?  That is the adventure before us.  These, and other questions, are dealt with in this book.

James W. Moore, popular speaker and preacher, is the author of several dozen books.  Join the 11:30 Adult Bible Study Class on Sunday in the Fireside Room as we discuss his current book.

Everyone, regardless of "Bible knowledge," is encouraged and welcomed to take part in this informal Bible Study!
  • Disciple Bible Study (30 week course) "Jesus In the Gospels" offered at 2 different times
    • Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30AM
      • First class meeting September 10
    • Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:30PM
      • Orientation on September 28

JESUS IN THE GOSPELS invites believers to look at Jesus in each of the four Gospels and ask the question, "Who is the Jesus that you see?"  This study will deepen discipleship through better understanding of the biblical texts and their message.

If you are interested in either class please call the office to reserve a book.
