United Methodist Church supports a unique and lively Girl Scout Troop
61150. We are a multi-level troop which supports girls from ages
5
to 17 - Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Senior Girl Scouts.
The
troop is open to all
girls. Some of the goals they work on are both personal and
far-reaching. This is achieved by exposing the girls to many learning
experiences, leadership opportunities and team-working skills. They
become better citizens and scouting gives the girls the experience of
improving the quality of life for others without regard for personal
reward. Girls develop a commitment to community service that lasts a
lifetime.

Alpha Omega - College Age Group Rev. Keith Inouye ![]() In
biblical reference to Jesus the Christ as the "alpha and the omega;
beginning and end" we affirm our desire to grow in our Christian faith
and service. Our desire is to keep college age young adults
connected to the local churches by providing spiritual enrichment
programming and fellowship both locally and cooperatively that is
relevant to where college age young adults find themselves. The
usage of the Greek letters "A" and "O" was used not only as a reference
to our spiritual heritage but a way to provide a connection to college
life through the establishment of a kind of Greek co-ed organizational
fellowship.
The 2010 Alpha Omega Retreat was held October 2-4 at Camp Arroyo Grande. Read a report Read more about the history of the Alpha Omega Group Get 2011 Alpha Omega & Agape Beach Retreat information HERE

Adult Bible Studies
This
Bible Study meets each Saturday and welcomes adults of all ages. Each
quarter a unit of study is completed and a new one begins; one can join
in at anytime during the year. Four to five Bible study leaders rotate
leading the lessons. Each lesson is focused on the Bible, and is
usually related to our daily lives and how we may become closer to God.
Very lively discussions are held in both large and small groups.
Participation in this Bible Study enables one to gain a better
relationship and understanding of one's relationship with God as well
as other members in the group. Coffee is served; the Bible Study concludes about 8:45 AM. If you are a "morning person" who enjoys an informal early morning fellowship, you will enjoy this very warm and friendly group. Following Bible Study some members regularly go out to breakfast. All our welcome to join this fellowship! It will be worth your time to get up and meet with this group.
Jim Tengan leads
the
adult
Bible study held on Sundays at 10:30 AM (after worship service). Jim
began this Bible study in the early 1980's and he continues to lead the
class diligently every week (except when there is a conflict with a
greater church wide program). It is an informal
Bible
study open to anybody who is interested in learning about Jesus and
incorporating His teachings into his/her daily life. The class chooses
(by democratic voting) books or Bible study materials that are
interesting to the class. Therefore, the study materials chosen by the
class vary offering a wide variety of styles, approaches and topics
relating to the Bible and the life in the Jesus' Church. "Lord, Give Me Patience! ... and Give It to Me Right Now!"
We meet on Monday mornings. We will start a new session entitled "Wising Up: Applying the Wisdom of Proverbs to Daily Life". In this study you will consider positive virtues such as discernment, respect, and generosity; and edgier more challenging themes such as seduction, arrogance, and greed. This study will help you reflect on your own life, in relationship with your sisters, with your friends and family, and with God.
People can come to any session. It is light reading, more discussion than anything. Just a group of women studying and laughing together. Contact Jody Kamachi or the office to enroll. The Wesley PrimeTimers are a group of energetic, mature
Christians, retired or soon to be retired, and/or anyone who is
interested in senior group activities. These seniors enjoy life
by relating to each other through participation and fellowship, while
helping others in their "golden years."
The PrimeTimers assist with many of the church's outreach programs such as making "brown bag" lunches for a men's shelter, dinner meals for the homeless mothers and children shelter, Volunteer in Missions programs, and many more. In addition, PrimeTimers support and participate in the ongoing programs of the church by helping with missions projects, rummage sale, Mochitsuki, Aki Matsuri, and a host of other activities. Often at luncheon meetings, speakers are invited who can provide educational information on a variety of topics to enrich their life. All especially enjoy excursions to local restaurants, live theater performances, and museums, and to longer trips to Los Angeles, San Diego, and Seattle.
