Church Location/Directions

Wesley ChurchWesley United Methodist Church is located at 566 North Fifth Street (between Empire and Jackson, on the east side of the street) in San Jose's Japantown neighborhood.  We are conveniently located close to highways 87, 280, 101 and 880.  

If you take Light Rail we are 4 blocks east of the Japantown/Ayer stop. Take either the Alum Rock-Santa Teresa line or the Mountain View-Winchester line.  Bus line #66 also serves the same stop. Other bus lines within one mile include #180  (Fremont Express), #22 (serves El Camino Real), #23 (Stevens Creek Blvd), and several others.  For more transit information 511.org

When you arrive at Wesley you can enter through the front doors ("F" on the map), but you'll find that most members and visitors enter through the courtyard ("C").

Reminiscent of times when families didn't use their front doors, we welcome you as a part of our Wesley family to "come to the back door"!

Continue on to the Sanctuary (#3) where you will find friendly and helpful people to greet you.

For our Japanese-speaking visitors, services are held in the Japanese Chapel (#4).

Parking

On Sundays, worshippers at Wesley have a number of options:

  • you can park in the Wesley lot (gray area) south of Soko Hardware, on 6th St., between Empire and Jackson)  See Green arrow for location of passageway between this parking lot and the church - you do not need to walk around the entire block to reach the church buildings
  • you can park for $2.00 in the City of San Jose lot on the corner of 6th and Jackson
  • you can park on surface streets in the neighborhood
  • handicapped and elderly worshippers can park in the lot directly adjacent to the church on 5th Street (gray area).
Please do not park in the parking lot of Soko Hardware which is reserved for their customers.

Childcare

Wesley’s Nursery is staffed by adults each Sunday during the 10:00am Worship Service and welcomes infants, birth to eighteen months, during the service.

Worship Times
   There are three worship services on Sundays:
  
Beginning July 15, ALL Worship Services are at 10am
Sunday School also at 10am

With both traditional and contemporary music.  Service is 60 minutes and dress is casual to dressy

 Nichigobu (Japanese-language) Worship Service
